[mac] files search tab search box and popup still active after changing tabs

Bug Description
This appears to be specific to the mac. I haven't tested windows but it works OK on linux.
1. open search tab.
2. type in search field - note popup window
3. change tab by clicking on another tab
4. note popup window is still there
4a. type some more. search keeps going!
expected: popup goes away, text focus changes to new tab
