Ubuntu one can't handle many small files well

I have a directory containing websites I'm trying to sync. It contains a large number of small files, about 10000 files but it's only about 250 MB in size. It has been trying to sync these for days on a fast internet connection (24 mbit) and I see no progress. This application needs to be improved to handle large quantities of small files. And preferably should some kind of event view or history view be added so that the user can see that something is acutally happening.
