Bug Description

python2 now exists in disco and up.

can you please introduce `python2` in bionic, which is an empty meta-package with like `Depends: python-minimal`. Or something like that.

Such that one can use "python2" dependency in either bionic or focal, and get /usr/bin/python2.

Specifically kernel autopkgtest currently use python2 and will likely be backported to bionic, and will then break. I'm proposing for them to use "python2 | python" but that will eventually break in focal++

feel free to do so ;)

I think that should be a backport of 2.7.17-2. Instead of what I said offline, the files/links should be in the same binary packages as in focal, or else you'll need changes in newer distros.
