Bug Description
The bug occurred during the installation of xtables-tools 2.3-1 on Ubuntu 14.04.3 (kernel 3.19.0-31-generic) via Synaptic 0.81.1
(usually I install via Software Center, but sometimes I still use apt-get and/or Synaptic)
Specifically, the packages were:
xtables-
xtables-tools-dkms
and I was installing them together, as requested by Synaptic; for both, the version was 2.3-1.
Before submitting the bug, I've obviously read (all) the details of the bug report.
In one of the fields of the infos gathered, you'll find a section that not only clearly gives the error, but also propose a solution.
But since the solution should involve an operation to be made on a kernel module, I didn't try it.
I've actually found 3 open bugs very similar to this one (regarding the installation of the same packages) only on Ubuntu 12.04;
in those 3, though, the reported error was slightly different.
Please note:
At the time when the error occurred, I already had ipset installed, and it was properly functioning with iptables
(tested, with both manual and automatic updates of the sets)
Let me know if I can be of any help.
Best regards.
