Bug Description
With artful ardvark xrdp times out while trying to connect to a running xrdp-sessman. Since I colud not find x11rdp or xorgrdp somewhere on the system I'd assume these missing.
xrdp/xrdp-sessman tries to start x11rdp/xorgrdp and fails, because none of them is installed.
-> looks like it should only start Xorg but with drivers for xrdp as configured in /etc/X11/
Trying the same with Xvnc leads to Xvnc not being able to start xvnc-servers because the port requested is in use. The stated workaround, replacing vnc4server with tightvnc does not work.
-> could not connect to 5910 (or any other port 59xx).

This affects me exactly the same way as described by Thomas. This seems to match a problem in Debian Stretch that also leads to a timeout through the Xorg based session of xrdp....I mention this in case it helps to diagnose the issue. This is a fresh installation of Ubuntu 17.10.
Kernel in use: 4.13.0-21-generic x86_64
All other software is fully up-to-date as of January 2, 2018.
Unlike Thomas I am not using ZFS but instead XFS.
