I have numerous similar issues concerning assignment of buttons with xsetwacom. The following (pad device name adjusted) worked under karmic:

xsetwacom set 'Wacom Intuos4 8x13 pad' AbsWUp 'core key ,'

Now with lucid and in relation to #560180 I first upgraded to xf86-input-wacom-0.10.6 (uploaded that here ppa:grahl/ppa). This seems to have solved some issues but RelWUp as well as AbsWUp do not work. RelWUp seems to have some effect but not consistently, most values for it don't produce anything.

I furthermore noticed that many special characters such as , . + - are not set by xsetwacom even on the regular buttons and the output defaults to keycode 8. I tried assignments such as Button4 'Button 60' and similar patterns from keycodes but this did not help.

Removed the duplicate tag. While the Bug #560180 has been fixed upstream this Issue Still remains. That is, assigning keys too Touchstrips or special characters to any buttons doesn't work. Tested with xf86-input-wacom 1:0.10.6-0ubuntu2 from ppa:grahl/ppa.

An interesting update to this is that this will work:
xsetwacom set "Wacom Intuos4 8x13 pad" Button8 "KEY period"
But this will not:
xsetwacom set "Wacom Intuos4 8x13 pad" Button8 "KEY ."

I have not found a resource that gives a complete listing of characters to key names (comma is another one that works). This still leaves at least the issues of touchstrips/wheels.
