Bug Description

I just think it should be possible to select what language you want the spellchecker to use for each channel. This would be really helpfull for people like me that is using trying to type in one language one place and then a different one in the next channel.

We discussed about that in upstream when we started to implement the languages selection.
It would be certainly useful but i'm not sure about the best way to integrate that in the GUI without too much complication (one the main goal of x-g is to keep a clean interface).

Another problem is than we're still using a lot of the xchat-gtk code for the configurations (for the servers/channels) and so lose in flexibility.

Changing severity because with the last verseion 0.11-0ubuntu1 we have the preference dialog for enable/disable spell checking but if we enable it, we don't have any languages listed so it's not working.

Patrice, that's a know bug (see bug 36931). It should be fixed soon (the fix is waiting for upload).

This current bug is a really enhancement as it asks to improve the languages selection configuration.

but 36931 appears to be fixed, however, xchat-gnome does not automaticlly install enchat (package libenchant1c2a), so a user get's a blank list of spellcheck languages in xchat-gnome.

Either a message needs to be placed in that blank window advising the user to isntall package libenchant1c2a for spellchecking, or xchat-gnome should dependon libenchant1c2a.

note: System is a dist-upgraded flight6-ish isntall, so possibly users get this by default now?

Indeed, libsexy2 should depend on libenchant.
I opened a bug about that. See bug 48513

It would be great if Gnome provided a standard way of selecting languages to spell check.
