I also have this same exact problem (with the same package and system versions).
And my system is also a PowerPC. Could that be related?

If you don't need to convert writer or calc to latex, then you can simply uninstall package openoffice.org-writer2latex and the error will disappear. You will get a warning, that the package openoffice.org will be uninstalled. But don't mind. It's only a metapackage where writer2latex belongs to. The rest of your openoffice.org installation won't be affected by this.
