Bug Description

Binary package hint: wine

Even if wine was removed, when I involve context menu for ex. .xml file, I can see notepad and winebrowser application on it.

Thank you for reporting this bug.

This is a known issue with WINE in that it does not uninstall applications or perform post-uninstall clean up. This bug should be converted to a wishlist.

Supporting evidence for wishlist Importance is that as per following upstream link:

uninstallation of WINE apps is not fully implemented (nor is it fully implemented in native Windows but different post for different website!). Hence, when WINE uninstalled or apps in WINE uninstalled, GUI links may not be uninstalled.

This is not an easy thing to fix in Wine, but it is definitely an issue.

Part of the problem is that Wine has no way of knowing if it is still the associated context, so it's risky to remove it. This also explains how the same wine program can associate itself multiple times (in the case of uninstalls/multiple wine prefixes or even just the app asking to be associated more than once)
