Bug Description
Binary package hint: empathy
Empathy uses Vinagre for it's desktop sharing feature, but so far this is only usable over LAN as most internet connections are too slow for VNC. Recently Vinagre gained support for low color depth to improve speed therefor Bug #203782 got fixed in lucid. This "bug" is about Empathy doesn't make use of this much needed feature.

Thank you for taking the time to fill out this bug report. Unfortunately, I am currently not sure how to handle this report. Are you asking that Empathy add a missing feature, or are you reporting that a feature is not working correctly in Empathy?
I am removing "Vinagre" as being affected by this bug since this report applies to Empathy.
I will also be marking this bug "Incomplete" until more information is added.
