Bug Description
The current packaged versions use a classic init.d script. I have seen a small but non-zero number of times where varnishd exited and required my system management tools to restart it. Since Varnish is almost always used for servers where reliability is also a factor, porting over to upstart would be a nice way to reduce the impact of such crashes.

Newer varnish releases have been adapted to work better with upstart and follow now systemd policies for fedora and debian. This bug should now be closed.
