Bug Description

I'm not sure this is an update-manager issue releated, but this HAPPENS ONLY WITH THIS.

Step to reproduce:
- Open a window of update-manager
- Maximize it
- Close it
- Re-open it

What should happen:
- The window is maximized

What happens:
- The window is displayed with its original position.

I do not see this behavior on a 12.04 fresh install. Is it still a problem with the latest updates?

Yes, the problem still remains with the latest update.
Maybe a fresh install can solve this. I'll try it in a Live CD

Yes please do. Make sure it is an up to date, daily ISO release.

I made a fresh *install* yesterday, but nothing has been changed.
1. Maximize the update-manager window
2. Close it
3. Re-open it

Result as image attached, it's not really maximized (may be a problem related with global-menu).
In fact, the window is correctly maximized but it doesn't support global menu.

Please note that if I maximize it again, it works perfectly with global menu.

Ok, yes I saw that problem too. It does stay 'maximized' but not 'fully maximized'.

I'd also like to add it opens on the monitor the mouse currently resides on indicating it neither remembers the state (maximised or not) or location on relaunch following the steps above.

I see this all the time...perhaps every time update manager is opened. I have additional behavior such as the window "size" is maximized, but it is not positioned properly. Part of the window appears on my secondary monitor, or off-screen, as the case may be. Perhaps this is the same effect as mentioned in previous comments. Another perhaps related issue is that occasionally the update manager window is all white, no widgets or data shown. When I *actually* maximize the window, it is properly refreshed and everything appears properly. Seems all related, but I guess we'll see.

I am running 12.04 (64-bit), which was upgraded from 11.10 way back when. I don't believe I saw this behavior back on 11.10.
