Software Updater does not show which packages are being updated

Bug Description
The software updater is not showing any packages that need updating even though there are apparently 3 updates available and it is going to download 49 kB.
This has been happening for the last couple of weeks, before that it worked as expected.
I am running Xubuntu 13.04 64 bit.
