Bug Description

Fresh 16.04 desktop installation from the current nightly builds of Ubuntu Gnome remix, I install unity8-desktop-session-mir, logout (rebooted as well) but I only have 'System Default', 'Gnome' and 'Gnome Classic' offered to me

Hi!

Thanks for reporting this issue.

I've never tried installing unity8-desktop-session-mir on an Ubuntu Gnome remix. I wonder if we have missed some dependency that is otherwise seeded on a standard Ubuntu distro.

As a start, could you please attach /var/log/lightdm.log and we will see if it trying to pick up the unity8 configuration.

Does the Ubuntu Gnome Remix use LightDM or does it use gdm as the greeter?

gdm, so no /var/log/lightdm.log - if its not supported in gdm at all then it's a feature request I guess!

Yes, it sounds like this would be a great thing to have, but it's not in the project plan at the moment. Great task for community contribution.
