youtube app controller only shows up with playlists

Im am runing Ubuntu 13.04 and im haveing an issue with package unity-webapps-youtube 2.4.11.
The systray controller under the sound icon only shows up when playing a playlist. instead of showing with single videos.
It should show up when playing playlists and single videos.
