Bug Description
Since I updated to 12.04, lightdm freezes for a few seconds before I can enter my password. While it is frozen I can already see the window and user names, but the background image is missing (I only see the dots) and I can not see the password field (the empty space where it should belong below the username is there however)
I believe this is connected to slow loading / caching of the background image, because if I quickly lock the screen 2-3 times and switch to lightdm from within an active session, the problem is gone in subsequent attempts. It returns when I wait a while and do different things before trying to reproduce the problem.

Thank you for your bug report, could you try if that happens with the gtk greeter? It seems rather due to the unity-greeter than to lightdm itself there
