Bug Description

Description: Ubuntu 8.04.2
Release: 8.04

unclutter:
  Installiert: 8-5build1
  Mögliche Pakete: 8-5build1
  Versions-Tabelle:
 *** 8-5build1 0
        500 http://de.archive.ubuntu.com hardy/main Packages
        100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

Started within gnome session manager with

unclutter -display :0.0 -idle 5

the tool dies after a few seconds. When started from within a shell this happens.

eric@charon:~$ unclutter -display :0.0 -idle 5
unclutter: someone created a sub-window to my sub-window! giving up

What does it mean, is this a error that can be reproduced by someone?

Bye
Eric

This error happens if a second instance of unclutter is started and triggers the first time. The original process seems to become a zombie under some circumstances.

A test if an unclutter instance is already running on the current display would probably solve that issue.

Changed in unclutter (Ubuntu):
status: New → Confirmed
summary: - stops with error on gnome desktop
+ unclutter: someone created a sub-window to my sub-window! giving up
