Bug Description

There seem to be a lot of these reports. From do-release-upgrade:

Could not calculate the upgrade

An unresolvable problem occurred while calculating the upgrade

I'd suggest that given the large number of similar reports, probably all with different packages at fault, the actual bug is more correctly that the upgrade tools do not report the name of the problem packages.

It does not appear to be possible to identify the packages as being held before the upgrade:

aptitude search ~ahold

nothing

dpkg --get-selections | grep hold

nothing

I seem to have found a fix. There are no 386 packages installed as given by:

dpkg --get-selections | grep i386

nothing

aptitude search ~ri386

nothing

dpkg -l | grep :i386

nothing

However, editing /var/lib/dpkg/arch and removing i386 (leaving just amd64) allows my upgrade to move forward without issue.
