Unable to update Kubuntu 14.04 to 16.06

Bug Description

When using Ubuntu 14.04, I attempted to upgrade to Ubuntu 16.04.

Using sudo update-manager -d the GUI fails. Screenshots attached.

You have two meta packages installed and that is causing the release upgrade to fail to be calculated.

It looks like you are using kubuntu, if that's the case remove ubuntu-desktop and then run the upgrader again.
