Bug Description
Ever since gnome 3.10 showed up in the gnome3-team PPA for saucy I've been seeing these three errors repeated on the console when launching GUI apps:
Fontconfig error: "/etc/fonts/
Fontconfig error: "/etc/fonts/
Fontconfig error: "/etc/fonts/
Even running dot from graphviz to produce an image prints these errors.
This did not happen with fontconfig 2.10.93-0ubuntu1.
/etc/fonts/

This bug also affects me on Ubuntu 13.10 when running various apps from console (for example LibreOffice Writer).
