Bug Description

Boot from 191120 Ubuntu 20.04 daily built. Selected Simplified Chinese locale. When tried to input Chinese, the dialog window shows three options: 汉语,Hanyu Pinyin (altgr), and 中文(智能拼音)。 The first two options do not work. Indication of poor quality control. Suggest removing both.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better.

This bug does not now have a package associated with it, which is important for ensuring that it gets looked at by the proper developers. You can learn more about finding the right package at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage.

Remarks such as "Indication of poor quality control" are not helpful when reporting issues so early on in a new development cycle.

Is this still an issue with more recent releases of the daily Ubuntu ISO?

With the most recent daily built, the Chinese input capability seems to
have been completely removed even when I booted into the (simplified)
Chinese locale. I can add Chinese input capabilities, post-installation.
But I am most interested in having this capability in the iso.

Ok, so not a bug with any specific package. I'm reassigning this to ubuntu-meta and adding a needs-reassignment tag. That'll be better than keeping it here where it may never attract the attention of those that can consider your request.

affects: ubuntu → ubuntu-meta (Ubuntu)
Changed in ubuntu-meta (Ubuntu):
status: Incomplete → New
summary: - Chinese input problems in 20.04
+ Minimal Chinese input options on live ISO
