Bug Description

Hi,

I noticed that the shortcut Super+d allows the user to select a process/icon that is listed in the unity Launcher in my 14.04 edition of ubuntu. Each of the icons is then listed with a number over to select a process while you hold Super+d.

This shortcut is not listed on https://help.ubuntu.com/16.04/ubuntu-help/keyboard-nav.html or https://help.ubuntu.com/16.04/ubuntu-help/shell-keyboard-shortcuts.html the likely two most appropriate places to list this shortcut.

I am not 100% sure that this shortcut is enabled by default in 14.04 or 16.04. If someone could please confirm and also update one of the 2 document pages listed above, that would be appreciated.

I've attached a screenshot of this as well.

Thanks for your report!

When testing on my 15.10, I find that if I hold down the <Super> key, the Keyboards Shortcut window is shown and the first 10 application icons in the Launcher are numbered. And yes, if I press a number key while holding down <Super>, the application with that number is started (or, if it was already started, becomes focused). Involving the <D> key makes no difference for me.

Can you confirm that behavior?

Gunnar,

Thanks for the prompt response. Yes, I can confirm that behavior. If I only press the super key, both the keyboards shortcut windows and the items in the launcher become numbered.

The behavior that makes a difference between holding only super and holding super and D is that "super and D" will only show the numbered items in the launcher. Super and D does not include the keyboard shortcuts page.

I could reproduce that on my 14.04 and 16.04 installs. But <Super>+D also opens an input area at the bottom right of the screen, so the purpose of that shortcut is apparently something else. To be honest I don't know what the purpose is.

I also noticed that you can start an application with <Super>+[number] without waiting for the icons to be numbered or the "Keyboard Shortcuts" window to show up.

So, to summarize, there is room for some kind of addition to the pages you mentioned.
