unable to install Ubuntu 11.04

Bug Description

The system had been working fine but today after upgrade to 11.10 the desktop environment was not good for me so wanted to revert back to ubuntu 11.04 but that did not happen installer crashed almost after copying 70 % of the files. Yes I am not doing clean install but choosing third option so that only system files are replaced

I'm marking this as a duplicate of bug 891711 which has some detailed information regarding the issue. We are currently looking into ways to recover your system from this scenario so keep an eye on bug 891711 for those steps.
