Bug Description

This has happened multiple times now.

As per bug #996568, I tried `sudo apt-get remove ubiquity-slideshow-ubuntu` before the install, and it did in fact get further... but it ended up crashing nonetheless.

I'm on a 2010 Macbook Pro.

I can confirm that running `sudo apt-get remove ubiquity-slideshow-ubuntu` finally worked for me.

The only difference between this time and last time is that I ran it when the install screen was already launched (the initial screen, not the final one with the slideshow), which lead to a broken link page where the slideshow used to be. I also moved my cursor every 5 minutes to prevent the screen from sleeping.

Not sure if it'll work for anybody else, but it worked for me!

Weird... Ubiquity seems to have somehow stopped running as root:

I have experienced the same or similar issue.
Installer crashes after "copying files" stage and at beginning of "installing" stage.
When Slideshow is removed or otherwise not displayed, crash will occur.
However I have discovered that when you wait at "user creation" page, copying occurs/continues in background. When copying has completed in the background and you proceed with user creation, installation stage completes successfully.
