"bootloader install failed" dialog unresponsive

Bug Description

If grub-install fails for whatever reason such that it brings up the "Bootloader install failed" dialog box in ubiquity, this dialog box may be unresponsive when the user clicks OK or attempts to dismiss the dialog, with mouse or keyboard. The dialog will not go away.

It's not just one-off.

Edit: Lubuntu 16.04 though one or two of the above URLs is about Ubuntu. x86_64, 2008 Macbook in my case - again, of the reports I've found about this, it is not Mac-specific.

I swear I reported this myself a few years ago but can't find it now. It seems to be a race condition in ubiquity because if you respond to the dialog quickly, it works, but if you wait a while, ubiquity appears to continue doing other tasks in the background and at some point, the dialog breaks.

Think I got the same with Lubuntu 16.10, because grub-install is not present, grub-pc
is not part of the DVD, and I was offline I got that dialog.

It is responsive (I can select any options) but if I select continue installation, or
end installation, or close the window with close decoration, nothing will make the
window to go away.

This affects ubuntu 18
I triggered this by choosing lvm as the install option, then pressing back when it informed me about how it will configure the partitions, then selecting "something else" then creating new partitions on the mapped lvm devices, then pressing back then continuing with the default lvm configured install.

Changing the selected device to install the bootloader on changes the enabled state of the OK button. Selecting different radio button options does not affect the enabled state of the ok button. Even when the button is enabled it does not do anything when clicked.
