Hello, I'm also having same troubles with getting trac-mercurial working with trac on ubuntu oneiric. It seems 0.11 versions of mercurial plugin have incompatibilities with 0.12 version of trac supplied in oneiric. As noted above it seems there are several fixes in upstream to make trac-mecurial 0.11 compatible with trac 0.12.

it seems that trac-xmlrpc also outdated in oneiric. as a workaround these plugins could be installed using pip:

# pip install svn+http://svn.edgewall.com/repos/trac/plugins/0.12/mercurial-plugin
# pip install svn+http://trac-hacks.org/svn/xmlrpcplugin/trunk

There's clearly a mismatch between the Trac version (0.12) and the version of this plugin (0.11) in the Ubuntu repos.

Manually installing plugin version 0.12 from http://trac.edgewall.org/wiki/TracMercurial works for me.
