Bug Description

Binary package hint: texpower-examples

The PDF example files included are just blank pages, and so these have to be created. However, the TPPreamble and other needed files needed to create these documents are missing.

I'm looking at this but it looks like it might be an upstream problem. Some of the pdfs do work but some, like mathexample.pdf do not. It actually fails on latex and then builds an empty pdf file. Thanks.

This appears to possibly have been fixed in the Gutsy package. Can anyone confirm this? Thanks.

I can confirm that the included pdf files are now working. However the files needed to generate the pdf files (__TPpreamble, __TPindexing, etc.) are still not there. I don't know what the philosophy of the packagers is, but I would like to see all of these included. It is useful, in order to understand how texpower works, to be able to modify the existing tex files and be able to typeset them.

These are part of the source package. Not even included in a normal binary install from upstream. Do you have a suggestion on where they would be included? /usr/share/texpower/examples or so? Thanks for the response!

Perhaps it would be appropriate to make a dev file with these? I am not sure. Including those files may not be in accordance with the philosophy of the packagers. It should be pointed out that these files are included in an install from the TeXLive CD. It should also be noted that the tex files that are already included in the texpower-example package are source files just as much as the files I mentioned before. The aforementioned files contain the generic tex statements needed in all of the examples, and the included tex files are not as useful without them.

To answer your question as to where I think the files should be placed. Yes, I think they should be in /usr/share/texpower/examples. They should be located together with the tex files as they are used together to create the pdf documents.

Thanks for reporting this bug and any supporting documentation. Since this bug has enough information provided for a developer to begin work, I'm going to mark it as confirmed and let them handle it from here. Thanks for taking the time to make Ubuntu better!
