since its the development version of empathy there seems to be not a usable stacktrace attached to this bug report. If you are able to reproduce this issue could you please try to get a backtrace by following the procedure here: http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProgramCrash and attach it to this bug report.

I get this with Natty, 11.04, with an Asus 1005HA when waking up from being suspended.

We didn't receive any dup of this bug since a while and no one from the Empathy team is experiencing it any more.

I'm closing it for now but please do reopen if you reproduce the crash on a recent system.
