I cannot get online (eth0 has no ip address) and X doesn't work, but
ping 127.0.0.1 works.
(when I have no networking, or X I suspected firewall = block all (yes it has happened to me before), but lo works)
Several errors were thrown up at boot then when X failed, it dropped
me to command line. Alternate kernels also have the same problem
(2.6.12...2.6.15 386&686).
When I manually "sudo dhcp" I get permission errors.

ARG: Sorry about the mess I made of this post; It's my first _launchpad_ bug report. I didn't realize editing would cause new posts to email thread. My future reports will improve as I learn this system. |

Thanks for your bug report. Please file it to only one package to begin with, and file separate bugs for separate issues.
Does "sudo ifdown eth0; sudo ifup eth0" solve the network problem? |

For the X problem, you will need to provide exactly what error messages you see. And attach /var/log/Xorg.0.log and /etc/X11/xorg.conf. Please open a new bug for this. |
