system-config-samba.py crashed with SystemError in __init__()

Binary package hint: system-config-samba

I tried to follow this guide:
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/SettingUpSamba

But after installing samba I could not find "System -> Administration -> Shared Folders" or "System -> Administration -> Network" -> General -> Windows Networking in Hardy Heron.

So I installed system-config-samba which keeps crashing before and after installing all proposed updates.
This was a clean and basically unmodified installation of Hardy Heron. No easy way to use samba for me at the moment.
