Bug Description

Binary package hint: system-config-printer

I find that frequently print jobs that I submit to my network printer are still listed as processing in the status window long after the print job has actually finished. If left untouched, the entries will remain in the status window apparently indefinitely. However, manually refreshing the status window results in a proper update of each of their statuses, frequently resulting in their removal from the status window as they had in fact finished processing long ago.

Upstream bug of job applet: Either the applet does not catch certain D-Bus signals of CUPS or it simply needs to refresh the job list more frequently. Tim, can you look into this.

Till, can you reproduce it? It's not something I've ever seen.

Tim, I cannot reproduce that, can you tell the user how to run an appropriate debug mode or so, to get mor info?

Printing 100 copies in one batch…
Printer stops without any reason, even while printing a page. Stop/start printer resumes a new page, first ejecting the half printed page and sometimes a blank one, then printing some pages (about 15). Task stays in the status windows, even after having printed more than 100 pages (in fact it seems to start again for 100 pages after each start/stop of the printer), and can’t be deleted during the session. It can be deleted in the next session. «sudo service cups restart» does not wipes the error, nor «sudo apt-get install --reinstall cups», but task windows shows squares as in attachment

Robert, you are talking about problems which are not the bug reported here. Please report separate bugs for them, one for the stopping print jobs, another for the squares in the job viewer. Thanks.
