Problems with video adapter NVIDIA geforce8400gs 512 Mb

I've so many problems with my video adapter. In first, there's not drivers for ubuntu, and this problem too ocurred for ubuntu7.10. My video adapter is NVIDIA geforce8400gs 512Mb. Many times tryng to install it's driver just resulted in the installation of other driver adapter: NVIDIA RIVA geforce 128 Mb. This is incredible! So, you will wait any problems with video here.

I've no any hope you'll solve my problem but, nothing will make me use windows again!
