Bug Description

Hi,

in syslog I get see error message:

syslog-ng[2678]: Error opening file for writing; filename='/var/log/news/news.notice', error='No such file or directory (2)'

lsb_release -rd
Description: Ubuntu 22.04.1 LTS
Release: 22.04

apt-cache policy syslog-ng
syslog-ng:

Interesting.... I created the file to make syslog-ng happy and it's logging events like these (main is the hostname):

I don't see any interesting here, in the scope of syslog-ng. These lines are generated by a process 'thermald'. Syslog-ng only writes it to a file, according with your config.

Back to your original question: from the documantation of file destination:

If the expanded filename refers to a directory which does not exist, it will be created depending on the create-dirs() setting (both global and a per destination option).
default is no for create-dirs()

I suggest to use: create_dirs(yes) perm(0644) dir-perm(0775)

please close this case, this platform is not for syslog-ng support.
