keyboard layout (german) not working at first try

Bug Description
Binary package hint: synergy
I get the correct keyboard layout only at second try.
Steps:
-connect -> qwerty layout
-stop
-connect -> qwertz layout
This happens with LXDE, XFCE, GNOME
This does not happen under KDE! Even special characters work just fine there.
System language is german, of course the keyboar dlayout is set to german, too.
Synergy plus didnt solve it either.

I can confirm this same problem on lubuntu 11.4. (synergy-client version 0.9.0) connecting to a version 0.9.0 server on an openSUSE 11.3 machine (both running 64 bit versions).
