Bug Description

When I go to a webpage containing a Java applet, Firefox prompts me to install a Java plugin. The two options are IceTea and the Java SE 6. The latter gives me the error:
"Can not install 'sun-java6-plugin' (E:Unable to correct problems, you have held broken packages.)"

If I try to install it manually using "apt-get", I get:

Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
  sun-java6-plugin: Depends: sun-java6-bin (= 6-15-1) but 6-16-0ubuntu1.9.04 is to be installed

Have you tried "apt-get remove sun-java6-bin" then installing the sun-java6-plugin?

Oh, that worked.
Why couldn't apt-get do that automatically?
