Bug Description

Binary package hint: ubuntu-restricted-extras

Currently Firefox must be restarted to take advantage of Flash and Java components after they have been installed. It would be useful if 'ubuntu-restricted-extras', or the individual packages themselves did this if Firefox was found to be already running.

I'd suspect this would be better done in the individual packages, as one wont necessarily use the (k)ubuntu-restricted-extras to install these packages - they may well install them straight through synaptic/adept.

Can't see the point in fixing it in u-r-e - would be better to fix this in the respective packages - as not all users are going to install java or flashplugin by u-r-e.

Debdiff against flashplugin non-free.

I haven't been able to test this, but it should work. Please test first!

Debdiff tested; works on AMD64.

The java stuff looks substantially more complicated.
