Bug Description

After updating Hardy from 8.04.2 to 8.04.3 I can not longer log into my bank account.

I reported a similar bug one year ago when first upgrading to Hardy (#226113).
At that time the problem was fixed.

The update to 8.04.3 changed something in java that made it stop working.

I removed all java and installed sun-java5 as this had worked before, but his time it did not solve the problem!

I experienced a behavior similar to bug #344705, #288397, #291135, #288642.
This bug is not duplicate of these, as they affect newer distributions.

After reading these bug-reports I realized that it was probably a problem with the versions of sun-java5 and firefox.
After some experimentation I found a combination of versions that work.
The combination I found working was (from /etc/apt/preferences):

Package: firefox-3.0
Pin: version 3.0.10+nobinonly-0ubuntu0.8.04.1
Pin-Priority: 1000

Package: firefox
Pin: version 3.0.10+nobinonly-0ubuntu0.8.04.1
Pin-Priority: 1000

Package: firefox-gnome-support
Pin: version 3.0.10+nobinonly-0ubuntu0.8.04.1
Pin-Priority: 1000

Package: firefox-3.0-gnome-support
Pin: version 3.0.10+nobinonly-0ubuntu0.8.04.1
Pin-Priority: 1000

Package: sun-java5-bin
Pin: version 1.5.0-15-0ubuntu1
Pin-Priority: 1000

Package: sun-java5-jre
Pin: version 1.5.0-15-0ubuntu1
Pin-Priority: 1000

Package: sun-java5-plugin
Pin: version 1.5.0-15-0ubuntu1
Pin-Priority: 1000

Package: sun-java5-fonts
Pin: version 1.5.0-15-0ubuntu1
Pin-Priority: 1000

I tried a 9.04 installation, but there I can also not log into the bank with symptoms as in bug #344705, so upgrading does not solve the problem.
