Bug Description

Binary package hint: software-center

USC 3.2.10

Nautilus does this in list view and it's easier to see where one element ends and another being.

Fixed in branch linked (only works for themes that choose to render the items in alternating colours. Where a user's theme doesn't render in this way, it will not do so - this would also be the case in Nautilus I suspect)

Note, this bug is a matter of opinion (with which I happen to agree) and the spec writer may not agree so this fix making it into USC is not a given.

I've spoken to mpt about this one, and I'm going to take this away and work on some other options. Issue with alternating colours is that if there are 2 or 3 items, it makes one of them look 'highlighted' or 'special' when it isn't.

I think with moving the stars as described in bug 802756, this will no longer be necessary. The only thing at the trailing end of a row will be the "Install"/"Remove" button, which will be easy to line up because it appears only for the selected row.
