Bug Description

Young people without a credit card can't buy an app, for example, World Of Goo, if I can't have a credit card, I can't buy it. But I could buy a "Ubuntu Card" to use it with my ubuntu one account, and buy music, and apps. Cards with 15/20/50 €/$/¥ to buy apps/music without a credit card.

I think we can get better support, and more buyers, if we can get this.

I suggest this could be considered a great blueprint for the Software Center, it's time to make it more easier for the developers to sell their apps in the Software Center to many people in the world taking in count you can purchase these cards.

Also, the cards can be digitally cards so can be environmentally friendly.

I agree it should be easier, but I don't know how it is in the rest of the world but here in america they sell prepaid credit cards that you can use. You don't need to be 18 and you can even reload them whenever you want. If this is not viable outside the US then yes, I 100% agree that something such as an ubuntu "digital credit" would be nice.

Same in Australia, pre-paid Visa and Mastercard are really starting to take off. However, I think an ability to purchase 'credit' in USC might be a good idea, so you don't have to go to your wallet and pull out the credit card each time you make a purchase (and also you could 'gift' credit to someone else)

Here, in Spain, we can have credit cards at 16 years, but the problem is
that most people doesn't want a credit card (like me, I prefer an "Ubuntu
Card") to buy apps and Music
And if Angry Birds goes to Ubuntu Software Center, I will buy it, of
course!! ;)

I think pre-paid Ubuntu-specific cards are a long (long) way off. The cost and logistics involved in getting those into circulation is likely to be significant. If anyone knows of existing generic pre-pay type systems out there which we could consider using but which don't currently work with Ubuntu Pay, please post on this bug and we'll gladly investigate.

As an aside, Paypal is progress.

Yes, we know what you mean. But just to pick the most obvious thing that would need solving first, any retailer would want to know how many potential customers there are. iTunes has half a billion active users, and some 125 million of them already have iTunes Store accounts. USC would take a long while to get that number of potential customers.
