Bug Description

Binary package hint: software-center

For example, if you don't know what is the "firebug add-on" on the Firefox software-center page, you currently have to search for "firebug" and to find it's page to access it's description.

The fix is already in the specification: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/SoftwareCenter#Add-on%20packages

I personally think that having a "more info" link next to the add-on name may be better.

We can't do that for Maverick in time, but we'll surely do it for Natty (11.04).

This bug is a bit tricky because the way the addon widget is designed at the moment is that the icon and label widgets are embedded within the checkbutton widget. It seems the checkbutton doesn't accomodate embedded event handling widgets, i.e. a link within the label does not receive events. THis is one problem.

The other consideration, not having looked at the spec in detail atm, is how to configure the pathbar. I presume we would want to display the addons categorisation in the pathbar. Currently this is not so easy and is made more difficult by the current design of availablepane.py.

Given this, I think this will have to be natty+1 :(

The pathbar issue is gone with the new design, as Software Center 5.2 doesn't have the pathbar anymore, and back-forward navigation should not be too hard to implement in this case.
About the technical issue: we could overcome it by using a table with a column for the checkboxes, and another one (or two) for the addon name and package name.
