Bug Description
The full title is: Software installations stall if the software centre is closed before the "authentication" dialog (enter in the adminstrator password) appears.
To reproduce this bug, make sure that the software centre is closed, then open it. Download an application by clicking "install". Now, immediately close software centre. The application will appear in the launcher but will never install.
I just did a fresh installation of Ubuntu (approximately an hour ago as the time of this writing) and this error still occurs. Particularly problematic if the authentication dialog takes about 10 seconds to show. Reopening the software center does not make the stalled software install, nor does an authentication dialog appear.
Restarting the system removes the stalled installation of the application (essentially cancelling the installation)
What I expect to occur is the authentication dialog to appear and authenticate or to cancel the installation.

This bug is still present, even in the latest release (14.10). Right clicking on the stalled application in the sidebar results in a blank name field (screenshot attached).
