Bug Description

While attempting to review an installed utility called "System Load Indicator" v 0.3-0, the following error occurred...

Failed to submit review

Server response was:
:package indicator-multiload not in lp-ppa-indicator-multiload-stable-daily precise for precise

This error can be easily duplicated, from multiple machines running Ubuntu Studio 12.04 LTS, and effects every installed package I've tried to review. The error message varies only in the name of the package installed.

There are developers and end users being hurt by this bug, we depend on up-to-date reviews a lot, and this particular developer (of the above package) is one of the better ones that deserves some positive feedback!

I know I reported this type of bug before (about 6 weeks back, I think), sorry for the duplicate report, but I can't find the original, and it appears this one isn't being dealt with?

No, that one is different, sorry about that, I thought it was related to what we encountered with Ubuntu 12.04 LTS. That error wasn't consistent, and effected whether or not packages actually installed or were removed successfully (errors generated no matter what when using USC). We simply resolved it by expediting the change from Ubuntu 12.04 to Ubuntu Studio 12.04, and that problem went away.

This new problem effects our machines running Ubuntu Studio 12.04 LTS AMD64. The USC runs normally in every other way it should, even within the rating system, until we hit the submit button. Then we get the above error, the only variation being with the package name (different packages being reviewed). The error can be easily duplicated, all review submissions attempted result in the above error. As we no longer run any other version of Ubuntu, we do not know if this effects any others. The review system had previously worked with this version, from what I'm told, until fairly recently.

Hi Deborah, and thank you for your bug report. Are you still experiencing this issue with recent versions of Software Center? Many fixes have been made since then and it's very possible that this issue has been resolved for you. If that is the case, please let us know so that we can close this bug, or feel free to close it yourself.

If you are still getting the error, however, please let us know that as well and we will work to investigate the issue further.

Thanks! Your help is much appreciated!

Hi Gary,

I have not yet tried to do a review since I reported that particular bug, so I do not know if the bug has been resolved. I am moving at the end of this month, so I won't be able to test it until after Oct 1st. I will schedule testing at that time, when I bring the network back online, and let you know then if the problem is resolved or not.

I have this issue to (running 12.04 LTS), but then about the package 'postman' in "lp-ppa-schumifer-postman precise for precise". I must say that I've added the postman ppa myself, so I don't know whether that might be the problem in my case (I mean: maybe the software centre doesn't support reviews for non-standard ppa's?).

I installed Emacs via ppa: sudo add-apt-repository ppa:cassou/emacs.
