shotwell has no possibility to change the size of a picture/image (enlarge, shrink, resize, scale).

Actually Shotwell does have this feature. When you export a photo using File->Export, Shotwell lets you specify a new width or height for the photo. Similarly, when you use Shotwell to open a single photo directly, the File->Save As command lets you specify a width or height for scaling.

Indeed, but this is completely not intuitive.

People that I know are trying to resize picture and it just appears like Shotwell doesn't have the feature.

Also, it doesn't make sense in the workflow where you don't want to keep the original. You want to resize this picture.

I've ticketed this on our Trac server as a possible future feature: http://trac.yorba.org/ticket/2716

Temporary resizing for the purposes of email would be nice as well, just as F-Spot did before Shotwell. To this end height and width are meaningless. People have a sense of how many MBs they can fit into an email, but probably couldn't care less about screen dimensions. Also, most of us probably want to keep the "full-sized" original, and immediately discard any resized versions.

ricardisimo, Shotwell already does a temporary export when you send an e-mail via the Send To menu.

However, I filed the following bug to track the case where you'd like to be able to export by file size rather than image dimensions.

Any chance this is actually going to get added? I think with shotwell being the default image editing application in Ubuntu there should be a user friendly method of resizing - as simple as "edit, resize, enter percentage or pixel value".

I realize you can go through the "save as" menu but that's not intuitive at all. I've been using Ubuntu for years and just assumed Shotwell lacked the capbility to resize images entirely, it was only now I decided to google it and discovered that this was not, in fact, the case.

Just wanted to comment that the only way I discovered this feature was via this bug. I've been opening images I wanted to resize in Gimp to do it all these years...
