Bug Description

The default /etc/shorewall/shorewall.conf defines the netfilter log location on line 32: LOGFILE=/var/log/messages

/var/log/messages was removed from /etc/rsyslog.d/50-default.conf in natty, as the same information was being logged to /var/log/syslog. See changelog: https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/rsyslog/4.6.4-2ubuntu4

Any shorewall command requiring netfilter logs, on a new install post-natty, fails as such:

# shorewall dump
LOGFILE (/var/log/messages) does not exist!

Hello, thank you for the tip ;)

By default /etc/shorewall/shorewall.conf defines : LOGFILE=/var/log/messages

After I edited /etc/shorewall/shorewall.conf I replaced LOGFILE=/var/log/messages by /var/log/syslog
Now on Webmin I can see the dump :)

The bug is still present in 16.06 xenial, shorewall-5.0.4-1 package. The patch is really easy, please integrate.

The bug is still present in 18.06 LTS bionic, shorewall- 5.1.12.2-1 package. The patch is really easy, why is it taking so long to integrate?
