sendfile not configured on install

Bug Description
Binary package hint: sendfile
I have installed sendfile, however I cannot connect:
john@john-laptop:~$ sendfile john@localhost examples.desktop
%sendfile-Info: opening connection to saft://
%sendfile-
The Debian standard is to configure a service on install, so I understand that this should work. The following run but do not help:
sudo sendfiled &
sudo sendfiled -Q &
I cannot find any help on "sendfile-
