Bug Description
Binary package hint: smbclient
Hi,
I'm experiencing quite poor performance over smb with my laptop running Ubuntu 8.04 Beta.
The problem occurs when I'm sending files from my laptop to a samba server. I have a wired 100 Mb/s connection between the two PC's, but I'm only able to send in <30 Mb/s. The recieving speed is not good either but it's much better than transmitting.
The server is running Ubuntu Server 7.10. The client is running Vista and Ubuntu 8.04.
Server: Samba 3.0.24-2ubuntu1.5
Client: smbclient 3.0.28a-1ubuntu1 and smbclient 3.0.28a-1ubuntu3
Everything have default configurations.
My testresults:
Client (Ubuntu 8.04) -> Server Never above 3,7 MB/s, 29,6 Mb/s
Client (Vista) -> Server ~12 MB/s, ~96 Mb/s
Client (Ubuntu 8.04) <- Server Never above 8 MB/s, 64 Mb/s
Over HTTP:
Client (Ubuntu 8.04) <- Server ~ 12 MB/s, ~96 Mb/s
Ok, a couple of questions first.
1. What type of network card?
2. How are you doing the tests?
3. How is the sever configured?
Thanks
