I've cooked up a debdiff for this to fix the behaviour and validated it.

Chad, please have a look at the diff from Itxaka, and do a stable release for lucid and apply it to the unstable branch. Once that is done, let me know and I'll do the uploads of the packages

Daniel, thank you for the patch! I wish I had more of people like you!

Sadly, the weird licensing around MPEG codecs means we can not require using the plugin in "universe" archive. The one in the "partner" repository has a different legal status, and we *have* to use it instead. (IANAL, and I do not understand why.)

The hole we stepped in here is that partner repositories so-far are not migrated/updated until Beta 1 of Ubuntu. This bug makes it obvious that is a bad idea, and so the people in charge of them are going to reconsider.

This should be fixed soon, by moving packages in a repository.

Hi Chad - no problem. In Maverick without my fixes here, there is a bug in the success/failure test - that parameter was an integer/boolean, however is now a string.

Daniel, I was cleaning up some branches, and applying the string/int change above, and I see only ints set as numbers, as the current code expects it. Where do you see strings?

My rhythmbox is v 0.12.8-0ubuntu7 .

I found the '_finished' callback to be called with exit_code as a string in both success and failure cases; the API change may have been reverted, thus my patch can be safely ignored.

unsubscribing the sponsor team since the change is not something that needs uploading since it has been agreed that the correct way to fix that issue is to have the codec be available in the maverick archive as well rather
