Background color issue in (some overview pages in the) Documentation

Bug Description

Problem:
In some overview pages in the documentation (Ubuntu's Help Center) the background color is red which is, combining with blue colored text, sometime quite difficult to read (depending on the brightness/contrast and light conditons, not so bright laptop lcd's, etc.).

Other users reported that the background color is brown (which does not make reading difficult) or blue (...don't know about the text-color in this case!) [1] [2].

Suggestion:
The documentation should have one (at least as default) color "text & background" combination, easy to read.

Examples:
Activate Ubuntu's Help Center with "F1" and look for example at "Adding, Removing and Updating Applications" or "Internet and Networks".

Please tell us what version of Ubuntu you are using. I cannot confirm this on my machine.

I recently removed latest QT library (4.4) I installed to have a nicer look on some programs (like LyX) and I noticed for the first time a brown background in the Help Center. So, I re-installed QT4.4 and the red background is back!

So, is this a bug... ?

I am convinced that it's a QT-issue! I've changed some settings via qtconfig and now I get another background color in the Help Center.

 Νίκος Αλεξανδρής ,

Sorry, this bug has slipped through my notifications. Since it has been such a long time, can you please let me know if you have found a fix to your issue or still experience this?

Hi Brian,
(if I may call you with your first name)

I still experience this issue. After a clean install of Ubuntu II/64-bit on a new machine and after installing various programs that depend on QT I have the exact same effect as described in my first post.

Kind regards, Nikos

Now using:
$ lsb_release -rd

Description: Ubuntu 8.10
Release: 8.10

I have Qt 4.4.3 installed under gnome on Ubuntu 8.10 (most current updates) and the box appears light green.

George and Nikos,

This ones hard to tell if QT is the direct cause. Can you both please list which packages you have installed (other than the default ubuntu packages) that are using QT. If you have the availability, check using a live intrepid desktop CD to see if this is still happening (i.e. boot into the LIVE-CD instead of your hard drive).

Thank you for your patience while we try to get the right package thats causing this bug

Right! Apologies for the delay.

I am sending the following screenshot from within a live(cd) - Ubuntu II / 64-bit session. There is no problem at all. I would be (negatively) surprised if this "problem" would appear in a live-CD session where no QT-packages are installed.

Kind regards, Nikos

Minor issue but sorry for the typo in the screenshot filename. It should read "livecd..." and not "livecs...".

This ones hard to determine which specific QT package is involved. I've gathered as much information as i can think of. Setting to triaged and low importance. Thank you for reporting this bug, and we look forward to your future reports.
