Could you try removing the configuration file and start it again?
$ rm ~/.config/qBittorrent/qBittorrent.conf

I'm guessing this is a duplicate of https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/773307
There is a workaround there (besides not using unity).

It is not a duplicate because the window doesn't open at all.

Well, my guess was that you had the setting "Start minimized" enabled. This is why I asked you to remove the configuration file to reset of default settings.

If the setting "start minimized" is enabled and if the tray icon is not working (like on Unity), then you don't see the window and there is no way to show it.

Thank you!
Had accidentally locked it, but going to qBittorrent.conf allowed me to change the locked feature to false .

(I'm a n00b, and being able to do this made me really happy :D )

In my qbittorrent.conf the 'minimise on start' was set as false.

But I saw another file: qBittorrent-resume.conf en renamed it to qBittorrent-resume.conf.old
Then QB started OK, with all torrents present (I shut it down and wanted to restart it, because a lot of torrents stalled... it helps with u torrent, and maybe even with Transmission).

Hope this helps.

btw
QB built a new qBittorrent-resume.conf at starting.
