This is an API breakage bug in pysqlite2 previous to 2.0.7 and is well known.
See these posts: http://initd.org/tracker/pysqlite/wiki/2.0.7_Changelog http://lists.initd.org/pipermail/pysqlite/2006-May/000560.html
Suggested Fix: Upgrade to 2.0.7 or backport the changes to the Ubuntu 2.0.5 version. I recommend simply upgrading to 2.0.7, as there are no changes from 2.0.5, only bugfixes. This should be safe for Edgy/updates (no API or functionality changes).
See also the 2.0.6 changelog for proof that nothing else has changed: http://initd.org/tracker/pysqlite/wiki/2.0.6_Changelog
